here's nine things about midterm break.

day 1 - yay!! break!!! finally!! wake up late, play, eat, sleep, play... suddenly it's dark.
day 2 - sunday.. then Church's on the list this day, but everything else remains.
day 3 - wake up not so late. "It's gonna be good to get started with this EGxxxx.. ah, maybe 1 or 2 games first..." and thus the night falls.
day 4 - "Okay,, play first! It's okay! But later must study ah.." and friends come and play along. Good friends, good play... it's late at night earlier than expected.
day 5 - "Arrrhhh... that's it! Today must study!" study one chapter.. feel so happy cos materials can be absorbed so quickly... "Whiw.. so good. Now play for a while before continue..." and it numbed the brain for the rest of the day.
day 6 - half day play, half day study + accidental napS + MSN + repetitive daydreaming
day 7 - heartstricken by the fact that it's Friday... play to reduce stress!
day 8 - study..study..study with the mental agony and self-questioning why the past 7days have not been productive.
day 9 - gg

gee

Starting today there's one japanese guy, new in lab. When I was browsing, MSNing, and emailing, suddenly I heard a different language spoken: Jap. And it was between that new guy and an INDIAN research fellow...so I was like.. *eyebrows up*.
Then in late afternoon the lab head came back from his usual journey (he's not in Singapore most of the time, then just pops up at lab every now and then). He went around the lab, talking to everyone, asking progress, and started to speak Jap with the new guy. "Oh well," I thought, "He's constantly doing something in Japan,, so that's normal."
After that he went talking to a guy who has been sitting next to me for about 2weeks now. This guy's white, but he has been going out for lunch with Indian people in the lab, so at first I thought he'd be Pakistanese. Then at a point of time, I wanted to borrow a software DVD from him, so I had to email him and found out that his name's Doros Polydorou... so I thought he's some Russian. But here goes, roughly, the conversation between him and the lab head...

LH: What's your name
DP: It's Doros. D-o-r-o-s.
LH: Oh.. Doros. Where r u from?
DP: I'm from ..... (he mentioned some name)
LH: Oh. My (some relative) is from Greece. I can speak Greek. (alien language follows)

Me: *eyebrows up* *eyes out*

bored?

find a cloudy day near sunset and one of your best smart casual suit. sling a guitar on your shoulder, stroll to city hall. slow down in front of the cathedral, observe when jaywalkers are few. jaywalk handsomely on red light, sense the spaciousness amidst the crowd, and fell good about it.

shaked well

I just realized that when Indians say a yes, okay, fine, or thanks with a shaked head (u know what I mean), they deliver to u a greater level of confidence, certainty, and gratitude than those words normally would.

duty.1

There's this angmo guy who came to me complaining about his printout's orientation. Well.. it's a complication of several variables: paper orientation, lecture note format, printout settings, so in short he gets a flip-page-up printout although he didn't tick for it.
And so he complained about the 'wrong printing'... he asked for refund. Though I told him that it's not the printer's error.. blah blah blah.. he insisted (with a red face somemore.. dunno it's because he's angry or because it's by default) so decided to call Rick (some pro-er dude).
Rick figured out that it is because of wrong setting, and he managed to explain to the angmo that it was setting faulty, not printer faulty, so it can't be refunded.
After the guy left.. Rick thought I could speak Chinese, so he blabbered an explanation about the recent problem to me in Chinese. I was too ashamed slash tickled to interrupt him.. so I didn't. Lucky he used proper gestures and a piece of paper when he talked. I only managed to catch several zhe yi ges, na yi ges and a jiao wo XD

Then.. another thing that happened was people complaining they can't do the booking. Geez. I should've gone to see caps lock first of all.. but instead I acted smart, eventually closing the program n made the screen go all black.
So I had to call Rick again.. which after struggling with the comp for 5mins decided to make a call (I suppose it's Darren, the pro-est dude) and found out that the windows key is pressable and the program can be run again from there.
Then he figured out the capslock thing.. and explained to me that it was the problem (it was good that he was so friendly, not blaming me for such small thing I couldn't handle). The funny thing was.. this time he explained everything in English. lol. Looks like he realized it.

lucky queue spree

Three times in a row when I had to stand in a row, there were 4-5ppl in front of me. Then by the time I made my order, there were at least 12people behind me.
